Guide to hotels, flights, diving, excursions and more.

Great restaurants,  nice beach, competitive room prices and friendly and helpful staff. Vigilant house keeping employees keep everything spotless.

The spa is perhaps the most luxurious and best equipped and also one of the largest of any hotel in the region.  Watch the the fitness programme film in the reception, try out the gym machines that cost more than a house in El Quseir or forget life's problems with a massage from one of the spa's  team of international staff  drawn from three continents.   This  palatial spa offers a  progamme of relaxing and invogarating treatments that more than matches other much more expensive luxury hotels we have visited along the Red Sea coast.

In other areas too the hotel scores high on value. The  shops are the cheapest in the five star category.  Don't overlook the perfume shop which has an amazing collection of bottles and glasses and probably the most knowledgeable perfumer in Egypt.

Only high internet connection prices disappoint.

250 including 56 connecting and has some handicapped accessible rooms.

Room facilities:  Modern, comfortable and spacious and all with sea views, air conditioning, minibar, bathroom with bath tub, shower, bath robes, hair dryer and complimentary shampoos,  in room safes and a balcony.

Opened: 2005.

: About 30 minutes (45km) north of Marsa Alam airport and about 26km south of El Quseir.

Hotel Facilities:  A mind boggling nine swimming pools including one in the health club which is heated from November through March.  Plenty of places to chill out including a pool bar, a beach bar, a lobby bar and an oriental cafe called "Shisha Corner".   There's also plenty of choice when it comes to food, especially if you like seafood or pasta.  Besides the main restaurant which serves the usual range of international cuisine there's a beach-side  restaurant called "The Love Boat"  with fantastic views and freshly cooked seafood dishes while there's also an Italian restaurant and a pool side pizzeria.   And for the sporting types there's aerobics, aqua aerobics, billiards, darts, football,  table tennis, volleyball and water polo.

Perfume shop: A special mention should be made of the well managed and impressively stocked perfume bazar just off the reception.   There was a far wider choice of perfume bottles and perfumes than I've seen in the hundred or so shops I've visited in Egypt.  And the salesman really knows his perfumes.  Not too expensive either.       Opening times can vary but normally from around 11.30am to around 11.30pm.

TripAdvisor and HolidayCheck Rankings

Ratings on TripAdvisor had been moving upwards until 2017- the hotel had gained eight places in the TripAdvisor rankings in a little over four months, leaping from 42nd out of 75 hotels, as of 26th October 2016, to 34th out of 73 hotels as of 2nd March 2017.  However by 12 January 2018 its ranking had slipped back to 37th out of a significantly smaller number of hotels - 68 and it slipped a little further to 38th out of 66 hotels as of 8 March 2019. However this still represents a significant improvement on its ranking of just 44th out of 68 hotels in June 2013. Satisfaction levels have also improved relative to 2013 as you can see from the table below.

Date Ranking  % of reviews "very good" or excellent   % of reviews        "poor" or         "terrible"
06/2013  44/68            63        18
10/2016   42/75           67        16
03/2017   34/73           69        15
01/2018   37/68           69        16
03/2019  38/66           68        17

The results, as of 10 March 2019, were excellent showing a leap upwards in standards across all categories relative to January 2018, and also a significant improvement in all but one category singe 2013. The only category which showed a marginal decline relative to 2013 was rooms but in contrast the overall rating for the resort witnessed a very substantial improvement since 2013, increasing from 4.4 to 5.0 and there was an even bigger leap upwards from its relatively low level of 4.3 in January 2018. The complete results can be seen in the table below.

Date Hotel  Service  Rooms  Sport  food  location
06/2013    4.4    4.6    5.1   4.2  4.2    3.6
10/2016   4.3    4.8    4.7   4.7  4.3    3.7
03/2017   4.5    4.8    4.7   4.7  4.3    3.8

03/2019    5.0    5.4    5.0   4.8  5.0    4.6

As of 10 March 2019, 84% of HolidayCheck reviewers recommended the hotel, which marks the best level we have ever recorded, a huge improvement on January 2018 when the hotel scored a fairly disappointing recommendation rate of 71%, and also an improvement of the 76% rate achieved in March 2017.

: on and have been mostly positive -

"We had a great stay in Dreams Beach Resort! The hotel is clean, the employees very friendly and courteous, the food was great (especially the three themed evenings!) and the service was on point. We definitely recommend the hotel!"                                                                     ( Christine 8 November 2017 )

"Absolutely worth every penny. Resort is beautiful. Staff amazing. Couldn't have asked for a better hotel. Amazing holiday. Rooms topped up daily with cold drinks of water, juice etc.... shops on site but can be a bit over priced. Other than that this hotel is everything you could ask for."
( Caz 24 September 2016 )

"The resort is on the beach, with people from different places.... The price is very good for what it offers and you can have a very relaxed time there. The resort has pools, three restaurants and the bedrooms are amazing. The only bad point is that wifi is not very effective in the rooms and you have to pay for it. Anyway (the hotel) is highly recommended."
( Lucas 17 July 2016 )

"Very quiet place. That's what I love. Excellent service. The sea and the beach are just wonderful. Excellent animation programme for children ( special thanks to Alex and Oksana ). Very tasty food. Everything you need for a great vacation."
( Ivan 21 June 2016 )

"If you are looking for a very lazy, relaxing break, in the glorious sunshine, with clear sea, blue skies, a massive pool, warmth and plenty of food and drink... Dreams Beach is for you !"
( LovelyLaurie 11 April 2013 )

"It's a six hour flight away but well worth the trip. My wife and I will be going again at some point in time, been four times in the last three years. Go for it and enjoy it yourselves."
( 4 May 2012 )

"Everything about our two week holiday at Dreams Beach was brilliant.  We went there to chill and that's exactly what we did."
( 2 March 2012 )

"The hotel is really good.  I've been there for two weeks with my girlfriend. We had a good time. Food was nice, the resort was clean, staff friendly......(but) the hotel is basically in the middle of nowhere, so you can't go for many trips or they cost you..(and) the beach is covered with coral, so the only way to go swimming is via a rusty pier...... Apart from that it was a very nice experience.
( 12 January 2012 )

"So, I can only say: Thumbs up..this place is the absolute place to go if you are planning a holiday with your family and children.....I miss all of them at the hotel already."
( 9 December 2011 )

"A very nice hotel with great staff far away from anything...a place for relaxation only.  It was a nice holiday.  Went with a group of ten people.....all of us can only recommend it.  The check-in process was good. The kids felt very comfortable and on the other hand at night it was very quiet and we could easily relax and enjoy the serenity."
( Violetta July 2011 )

ON THE STAFF: -  Most of the reviews very favourable.

"The staff making us very happy all the time... The animation team are very good and welcome all the guests with a lovely smile."
( Shaheen February 2017 )

"All the staff take special care of you and they go the extra mile to satisfy you. Waiters, receptionists, housekeeping and even the gardeners always have a smile for you. So lovely."
( Jana October 2016 )

"The staff are very friendly. We became very good friends with the animation team also called the "Joy Team" - Cookie, Mondy, Julia, Andrea and Saied. They are all very friendly."
( Hans 3 March 2016 )

"The friendliness, courtesy and respect towards us was overwhelming."
( Alexandra Ferbruary 2016 )

"The staff was very attentive, friendly, helpful and not pushy at all......  without tips very friendly and we were always asked whether everything was OK."
( Katarine March 2013 )

"Very attentive staff in all areas who genuinely wanted you to enjoy your time there."
( 2 March 2012 )

"The service is very good. Some of the staff spoke very good German."
( Dieter February 2012 )

"The staff were good, always cleaning our room every day and they were good to the kids...and made nice things with the towels...The animation team was absolutely marvelous. They had shows every night and they were GOOD !!!"
 ( 9 December 2011 )

"We arrived in the evening. We were met at the door by bell boys in Egyptian dress, who helped us with our cases. We were given a welcome drink at reception and hot flanels to refresh ourselves with. We were given an excellent room with a kingsize bed and were escorted to the room by hotel staff, who explained how things worked and tuned our TV into British stations for us."
( 12 November 2011 )

"We were welcomed at the hotel at around 1am with a glass of juice, and were checked in and on our way to our room within 10 mins-cases following soon after ( the quickest we have been checked in to the rooms in nine trips to Egypt ).....Our cleaner Mahmood cleaned the room to a very high standard every day and always had a chat with us when he could - he was keen to talk to improve his English which was very good anyway."
( 26 October 2011 )

"Special thanks go to my new friend Hassan who works in the main dining area and made us feel like we were his special guests. Also all the guys at the pool bar who were not only always cheery, but would bring drinks/fruit/cooling towels out to us at our sun loungers around the pool. "
( June 2008 )

"The staff are very polite and helpful and will do everything they can to make your stay perfect. We were shown to are room and all luggage was brought for us, the porter even showed us how the aircon and all the appliances worked."
( 26 June 2008 )

"Staff are so nice and bend over all ways to help you."
( May 2008 )

"This is one of the hotels strongest pluses - the guys are wicked and will do anything for you. "
( TripAdvisor .com  3 May 2008 )

"The staff are fantastic they cant do enough for you as soon as you have got an inch left in your drink a new one is brought and same with you plates as soon as you have finished your meal your plates are cleared"
(  30 March 2008 )

ON THE BEACH AND SEA: - mostly very positive but with the occasional visitor disappointed -

"The beaches are wicked, definitely our favourite part. They have sun loungers, hammocks and little wicker tent things which you can get out of the sun in."
( Same 18 September 2016 )

"The beach is not the type you can spend your day at unless you want to snorkel and dive. The beach is not sandy and full of rocks. The hotel offered a visit to another beach, and we went there to find that it was a pubic beach, very dirty with no facilities."
( Amira 9 June 2016 )

"I cannot believe that anyone could possibly say that there is no beach, as the two beaches are excellent - the one in front of the hotel being a pebble beach and the one to the left sandy - both very tidy and clean and maintained everyday.  With excellent sunbeds in plentiful supply and each with a permanent windbreak already assembled."
( 12 November 2011 )

"Unfortunately we often had a red flag flying and couldn't therefore go snorkeling. However you could book a snorkeling excursion which I recommend."
( Sandra October 2011 )

"The corals are in pristine condition and you can spot turtles, eagle rays, barracuda if you venture a bit further from the pier  (Watch the current though)"
( 10 August 2008 )

" We went swimming with snorkels in the sea 4 days out of seven. The fish are very impressive. There is a lifeguard on the jetty to make sure all are safe, and he does a good job by being vigilant and telling people if they are going too deep ."
( June 2008 )

"The beaches are wicked, definitely our favourite part. They have sun loungers, hammocks and little wicker tent things which you can get out of the sun in."
( 3 May 2008 )

ON THE ROOMS: - mostly ( but not all ) appreciative.

"Rooms clean and large. Large beds 120 x 200 cm, however I must say that the mattresses are rather firm."
( This reviewer rated the rooms at 6 out of 6 stars. )
( Sonja July 2016 )

"The only thing I don't like is the rooms. (They are) old and the bathroomms need to be renewed."
( Mohamed 21 December 2015 )

"Rooms spacious and kept very clean. The maids work very hard and always had a smile for us. They left lovely towel art daily. My son celebrated his 18th birthday whilst there and the maids made a beautiful display for him - Nothing was too much trouble."
( Emma 14 September 2015 )

"The hotel designer took care that all rooms are facing the beach, the wonderful swimming pools and gardens. The view from the second floor is really impressive from wherever you are."
( 8 March 2012 )

"The rooms are large and kept very clean. The towels were changed daily."
( Dieter February 2012 )

"The room was larger than we expected with a very large double bed, sofa, tv, dressing table/mirror, bathroom with shower over bath and separate sink area outside the bathroom with power and shaver points and a large mirror. There was no shortage of power points in the room where you need them. The fridge was stocked with two bottles of water daily and the room had a digital safe which was large enough for two large cameras and all our other valuables with space to spare."
( 26 October 2011 )

"The room boys did their job very well."
( Henner October 2011 )

ON THE FOOD: -  Mixed reviews inlcuding a  few complaints but when I went I found the main restaurant offered an amazing choice of freshly cooked and prepared food.  I would be tempted to agree with one reviewer who wrote "If you can't eat well here everyday, you must be a very fussy eater."  And for those Brits who can't do without egg and chips - either smuggle your own frozen chips through customs or ask the chef an hour or so before lunch time.  I found that even the staff canteen served food above the standard of some tourist class Egyptian hotels !  Here are the mixed reviews but with some very positive ones -

"The food was pleasant the the chefs were more than happy to cook you something if you wanted it. I loved the breakfasts because they made me heart shaped waffles. Sad I know but it made me feel special. I was made to feel that I was part of a family and this was a lovely feeling."
( Susan 26 October 2015 )

"The food I think was better than average....  I filled my boots... Favourite resturants were the Grill House and the Asian House. Room service food is yum too. Waiters are happy to help.
( Ciara 18 September 2015 )

"The food is generally buffet style and you need to be really fussy to not like anything ! Breakfast is cereals, fruits, yogurt, breads, cakes, pastries, beans, eggs, sausages and salad ! And if that doesn't do it, the chef will make you fried eggs, omelette or pancakes. Lunch changes daily but consists of soup, breads, fruits, desserts, salads, hot sandwiches.... and also meat, fish, veg, potatoes and a pasta bar where the chef will make you a personal dish from his fresh ingredients."
( LovelyLaurie 11 April 2013 )

"Food was good to very good.....Christmas food was especially good. In the weekdays there was not always a very large selection. As far as the Italian restaurant goes, I would consider it as more of an Arabic interpretation of Italian cuisine but you should try it."
( Galina HolidayCheck December 2011 )

"In the Tropicana restaurant we were greeted by Mahmood, who showed us to an excellent outdoor table ( yes even in November and after 9pm ) who served us with wine ( in a 175ml wine glass rather than a thimble ) and took us to see what was still an oustanding array of soups, starters, main courses and desserts to die for.  We continued to receive excellent service from Mahmood all week."
( TripAdvisor 12 November 2011 )

"The buffet restaurant never seemed overcrowded during our stay with a good selection of food every night.  The menu had a theme most nights with English, Italian, oriental (Egyptian) and French on the menu.  Every night a different grill, bbq or carved meat was available outside at the cooking stations along with pasta and a meat/fish station inside."
( 26 October 2011 )

"We pleased to find the food fantactic ...fresh breads....soups...salads....pasta dished made to your liking right in frount of you...and a vast selection of desserts...the meals each night were different theams for example: Mexican, Italian, oriental etc."
(  30 March 2008 )

"Breakfast Fab, eggs any way you want them cooked fresh by your own Chef lots of bits to go with them plus Pastries to die for etc."
(  14 February 2008 )

"I've been to Egypt twice before and I thought that the food at Dreams Beach was the best so far. The selection was good, the standard was good, in all honesty, if you can't eat well here everyday, you must be a very fussy eater."
( 23 August 2007 )

But there was one note of dissent from a British guest from Liverpool who was not entirely happy -

"(Although) the food was lovely....... I did miss my bacon sandwiches of a morning."

"My partner and eldest girl went on the trip out on the buggy things they loved it and pictures were great."
( 15 December 2011 )

"If you want to do more than just swim..... you have a huge choice of excursions. Snorkel with the dolphins/giant turtles or diving or a cultural trip to Luxor ( exhausting but highly recommended ).  The offers exceed the time available.  Camel riding was funny."
( Wolfgang October 2011 )

"No shops except small ones in resort......
There is a great shop selling pure pefrume."
( 7 March 2012 )
