1. ROYAL TULIP BEACH RESORT
As of 5 March 2021, Royal Tulip Beach Resort had a respectable TripAdvisor ranking of 28th out of 77 hotels, which was a relative improvement on its standing in May 2019 of 28th out of (fewer) 69 hotels and similar to its rank in March 2017 of 29th out of 72 hotels, although down slightly on its peak ranking (at least for all the occasions when we checked) of 14th out of 68 hotels in February 2018.
Although overall the resort’s ranking has gone up and down since 2017, the percentage rating the hotel as either ‘very good’ or ‘excellent’ declined slightly in 2018, 2019 and 2021 compared with March 2017, when it stood at a highly impressive 92%. Since then it slipped to 89.6% in February 2018, 84.9% in May 2019 and a still very reasonable 84.0% as of 5 March 2021. At the same time the percentage rating it as ‘poor’ or ‘terrible’ has increased slightly from 1% in 2017, to 3.0% in February 2018, to 4.7% in May 2019, and 5.6% as of 5 March 2021. The 2017 percentages were rounded to the nearest decimal point.
The low ranking of the hotel in March 2017, despite the rating being very high, might have been because at that stage only 78 guests had reviewed the hotel, compared to a total of 1,328 reviews as of the time of this review (5 March 2021.) The differences over the last few years, are only marginal – the important point to note is that for every person who has judged the hotel as “poor” or “terrible”, there are more than 15 who have considered their experience to be either “very good” or “excellent.”

|Date||Ranking||% v. good or excellent||% poor or terrible|
When we last checked the ratings of Royal Tulip Beach Resort on Holidaycheck on 5 March 2021 they were very impressive with the hotel overall scoring 5.2 out of a maximum six stars, with admirably high scores for service and rooms at 5.3 and only slightly lower ratings for gastronomy, location and sport and entertainment – all at 5.1. However, the hotel’s overall rating slipped slightly from 5.3 in May 2019 (the previous time we checked) to 5.2, and, while the rating for location improved from 5.0 to 5.1, the score received for sport and entertainment declined a small fraction from 5.3 to 5.1. 2. MAGIC TULIP BEACH RESORT
As of 5 March 2021, Magic Tulip Beach Resort’s ranking on Tripadvisor had slipped to 36th out of 77 hotels in the region, from its previous impressive standing of 21/69 in May 2019. However, we wonder whether this might have been due to the lower number of reviews as there’s no indication of any actual decline in guest satisfaction. In fact the percentage of Tripadvisor reviewers rating the resort as “very good” or “excellent” remained at exactly the same respectable level of 78.7% (see the table below), as did the small percentage of reviewers judging the hotel to be either “poor” or “terrible” – at just 8.3%.

On Holidaycheck.de, as of 5 March 2021, the ratings for Magic Tulip Resort were even more impressive with the hotel scoring a very credible 5.3 out of a maximum six stars – the highest level that we’ve seen it at and up from 5.0 in February 2018 and 5.2 in May 2019, with the highest scores for service – an astonishing 5.5 – up from 5.4 in 2019 and gastronomy at 5.2, also seeing a significant improvement on its previous already respectable score of 4.9 in 2019.
Close behind came rooms at 5.1 (up from 4.9), sport and entertainment (declining a fraction to 5.1 from 5.3) and location at 5.0, also down, albeit by just the tiniest fraction – 0.1, from its 2019 level. Finally and tending strongly to suggest the resort is on an upward trajectory, the percentage of Holidaycheck reviewers recommending the resort reached the highest level we’ve yet recorded of 94%.
