Back in 2016, Akassia Resort topped my recommended list of top Marsa Alam hotels —and a decade later, it’s still holding strong in second place for pure indulgence and buffet spreads that would’ve impressed King Farouk himself. Its unique and spectacular 50 metre reef drop-off, a real magnet for diving enthusiasts, and its soon-to-be-modernized aqua park, due for completion in May 2026 and likely to be a winner with families, provides a triple-anchor of nature, adventure and entertainment that is difficult for newer resorts along the Marsa Alam coastline to replicate.
The resort is actually made up of two neighbouring hotels: Akassia Swiss Resort (formerly Club Calimera Akassia) and Sentido Akassia Beach (formerly LTI Akassia). They share some fantastic facilities, including access to the stunning house reef.
LOCATION
Akassia Resort sits 40 kilometres (25 miles or a 30-minute drive) north of Marsa Alam Airport, positioned on the scenic coastal road to El Quseir. This picturesque town is a mere 10 to 15-minute drive away, while Hurghada International Airport is roughly 150 km (90 minutes) to the north. Like its neighbours along this stretch of coast, the resort enjoys a tranquil isolation, caught between the Red Sea to the east and the Eastern Desert to the west.
This peaceful seclusion offers a rare escape from urban pollution and a spectacular nighttime canopy of desert stars. While the solitude is idyllic, be mindful that on-site operators may leverage this remoteness to overcharge for excursions. Though I’m now aware of the specific April 2026 rates charged by hotel operators, local external provider Steven’s Taxis offers a competitive alternative; their current transfer and tour prices for Akassia guests are detailed below.

Akassia Swiss Resort has 444 large deluxe room in 1-3 floor buildings, divided into standard, standard sea view and family rooms while Sentido Akassia Beach has 200 rooms including 20 suites.

Two floors, restaurant, coffee shop, babysitting or child care, laundy/dry cleaning service, concierge services, currency exchange, business centre, secreterial service, beauty salon, sauna, gift shop, travel desk, game room, three swimming pools (outdoor), swimming pool (for children), tennis, night club and 500 metres of private beach.
There is also a large and popular Aqua Park with water slides ( including twelve for adults and six for children ) and a huge wave pool and a “multi game children’s aqua tower”. The aqua park is usually open 7 days a week from 10 am to 12 noon and then from 2pm to 5pm to guests staying at both resorts.

On TripAdvisor, as of 7 April 2026, Akassia Swiss Resort was ranked #2 best value on Tripadvisor out of 95 resorts in the El Quseir and Marsa Alam region and 3rd out of the same 95 resorts based on popularity/traveller ranking, with an average rating of 4.6 out of 5 bubbles based on 2,481 reviews, with 89.8% of reviewers rating it as either “very good” or “excellent,” while only 5.4% of reviewers rated it as “poor” or “terrible.”
BOOKING.COM
As of 7 April 2026, Akassia Swiss Resort is winning over guests on Booking.com with a superb 9.2 rating, based on 508 reviews, and up significantly from 8.7 on 2 June 2025. Here’s how it scored across key categories (out of 10), starting with the highest-rated: The June 2025 figures are given afterwards in brackets, with an enormous leap in improvement in the resort’s WiFi rating.

GOOGLE AND HOLIDAYCHECK
As of 7 April 2026, Akassia Swiss Resort had obtained an encouraging result of 4.4 out of 5 on Google Reviews based on 5,224 reviews, achieving the same respectable rating as on 2 June 2025.
Meanwhile on Holidaycheck.de the resort also maintained its admirable 5.4 out of a maximum six stars (as of 7 April 2026), but now based on 3,186 reviews. Also unchanged, a reassuring 94% of reviewers said that they would recommend the hotel with the following scores out of a maximum of six for the various categories – highest first with the earlier June 2025 score in brackets.
SENTIDO AKASSIA BEACH GUEST REVIEWS

As of 7 April 2026, Sentido Akassia Beach achieved an impressive rating of #5 for best value on Tripadvisor out of 95 resorts in the El Quseir and Marsa Alam region and a respectable 4th out of 95 properties in terms of traveller reviews. It achieved a respectable Tripadvisor rating of 4.4 out of 5 bubbles based on 2,168 reviews, with 86.9% rating it as either “very good” or “excellent” and just 4.9% as either “poor” or “terrible.”
BOOKING.COM
Meanwhile on Booking.com, as of 7 April 2026, Sentido Akassia Beach achieved a “superb” 9.0 rating based on just 33 reviews. The small review number possibly being due to its fairly recent change of name and smaller size with the following scores for the various categories – highest first. We noticed that no score was given for WiFi – maybe not enough people reviewed it. On a positive note, the staff and cleanliness scores were very impressive. Earlier scores for June 2025 are given afterwards in brackets.
GOOGLE AND HOLIDAYCHECK
As of 7 April 2026, Sentido Akassia Beach achieved the same top tier score of 4.6 out of a maximum of five as in June 2025, but based on 1,483 Google Reviews and it also bagged the same excellent rating of 5.6 on Holidaycheck.de out of a maximum six stars that it had attained in June 2025, but based on 3,732 reviews with a hugely impressive 96% of reviewers saying that they would recommend the hotel with the following scores out of a maximum of six for the various categories – highest first.
