JAZ LAMAYA RESORT
The hotel first opened in 2005. It was previously known as Iberotel Lamaya.
389 comprising 52 Superior rooms, 134 Superior family rooms, 201 Deluxe family rooms, and 2 Junior suites. 32 rooms are connecting. Room sizes are as follows.
Sea or garden view, individually controlled air conditioning, direct dial telephone, satellite LCD television, mini fridge, safe, hairdryer, kettle, private bathroom with shower and a spacious balcony with two arm chairs and a table. The junior suites have a separate living area with a partial sea view in addition to the master bedroom.
At Coraya Bay, 5 km from Marsa Alam Airport and 73 km north of the town of Marsa Alam.
The main buffet restaurant is the Al Diwan, with a terrace overlooking the bay, and a beach bar and restaurant, the Morgana, with daytime snacks and a la carte seafood in the evening. There are also two other bars in the lobby (the Mawal) and by the swimming pool (the Nesma). The latter, unfortunately for those on a diet, serves great ice-cream.
There are also three swimming pools (two heated during winter), a laundry, room service, complimentary sauna, steam bath, jacuzzi, gym and massage at extra cost; archery, darts, tennis courts, table tennis, basketball and beach volleyball; animation activities, a kid’s club and a separate children’s swimming pool and a diving centre.
There’s also a fully equipped conference hall which can fit 150 guests for a cocktail, or seat 100 people theatre style or 50 to eat. Please contact the hotel regarding the cost of renting an overhead projector, screen etc.
As of 4 March 2021, Jaz Lamaya’s rating on Tripadvisor was top notch, with an overwhelming 92.4% of guests judging their experience as either “very good” or “excellent”, the highest such rating that we have ever seen recorded since we started making occasional checks on the ratings from 2013 (see table below). As you might expect, the proportion of guests judging the hotel to be either “poor” or “terrible” dipped to it’s lowest level that we’ve ever seen, at just 2.4%, and the resort achieved an average rating of 4.5 out of five stars, well above the 4.0 necessary to be categorised as excellent overall. However, the hotel’s ranking in the Marsa Alam region slipped slightly to a still impressive 12th out of 76 hotels listed, down from 5th of 56 on 23 March 2019.

The resort also scores exceptionally well on Holidaycheck. As of 4 March 2021, it scored an admirable 5.5 out of a maximum six stars for its overall rating, with improvements in three categories since April 2019 – service soaring to a super impressive 5.6 from 5.5, location edging up to 5.5 from 5.4 and gastronomy rocketing to 5.4 from 5.2 – the highest score in that particular category we had ever seen recorded at Jaz Lamaya. A virtually unbeatable 97% of reviewers on Holidaycheck indicated that they would recommend the resort as of 4 March 2021, the highest level we have yet seen for Jaz Lamaya – please see the table below.
