LOCATION

Perfectly positioned on the southern flank of the Port Ghalib International Marina, the resort offers a distinctively nautical atmosphere just five to ten minutes from Marsa Alam International Airport.

Situated approximately 60 km north of Marsa Alam town, the resort feels like a private enclave within the bustling marina development. For those looking to explore the boutiques and vibrant promenade on the opposite side of the bay, a complimentary water taxi provides a scenic and frequent shuttle service throughout the day and evening.   There is a shuttle boat (water taxi) which takes guests free of charge to and from Port Ghalib marina and shops which lie across the bay.   

AIRPORT TRANSFERS

Probably the best value option is Steven’s Taxis – who charge 8 euros by standard saloon (3 pax + 3 cases), 12 euros by a large hatchback taxi (4 pax + 4 cases) or 15 euros by minibus (8 pax + 8 cases). More info here.

The aesthetic is traditional yet upscale, featuring premium touches like high-thread-count Egyptian cotton sheets. Every room is equipped with fully adjustable air conditioning, a private bathroom (shower or tub), and a balcony or patio offering views of the lush gardens, the swimming pool, or the bustling marina. Standard amenities include satellite TV, a hairdryer, an in-room safe, a mini-bar, a direct-dial telephone, and WiFi.

Culinary options are anchored by Indigo, the main buffet restaurant, supplemented by the Viz rooftop terrace for light snacks with a view, and Shark Bites for poolside refreshments. For evening relaxation, guests can choose between the sophisticated 50 Bar (indoors) or the alfresco atmosphere of the outdoor bar. The traditional Shisha Corner remains a favourite for those looking to enjoy flavoured tobacco and authentic local teas.

Marina Lodge maintains a stellar reputation that outshines its 4-star category with a stronger reputation than a quick glance at the Tripadvisor rankings might suggest. As of 8 April 2026, it ranks 9th out of 11 Port Ghalib hotels based on Tripadvisor’s value rankings and more crucially 8th out of 11 Port Ghalib hotels based on Tripadvisor’s traveller rankings – in which it faces a highly competitive market within the Port Ghalib marina area from some of the best hotels in the entire Marsa Alam region.

It holds a commanding average rating of 4.3 out of 5 based on 2,957 reviews. The sheer volume of “Excellent” and “Very Good” reviews (83.3% – up from 82.5% in June 2025) speaks to a high level of guest satisfaction. Only a diminishing minority (approx 8.2% down from 8.5% in June 2025) report subpar “poor” or “terrible” experiences.

Meanwhile on Booking.com, Marina Lodge’s rating has rocketed skywards from a “very good” rating of 8.0 back on 1 June 2025 (based on 36 reviews), to a superb rating of 9.1 (based on 492 reviews) as of 8 April 2026, with the following scores for the various categories – highest first and the June 2025 rating following in brackets.

Although the resort’s WiFi has improved dramtically since June 2025, it’s still worth considering a local SIM card for more versatile connectivity. It provides a handy backup if there’s any problem with the hotel WiFi and it ensures you can stay online while out on excursions or exploring the area.

On Google Reviews, as of 8 April 2026, the resort enjoys a highly competitive 4.5/5 (based on 4,296 reviews), continuing its steady climb from previous years – 4.3 (based on over 2,617 reviews) on 1 June 2026 and a 4.1 rating (based on 1,661 reviews) back on 5 October 2024.

This positive trend is mirrored on HolidayCheck, where the resort scored an overall assessment of 5.2 out of six stars (as of 8 April 2026) based on 763 reviews, up significantly from an already respectable 4.9 score, based on 679 reviews, on 1 June 2025. A hugely impressive 89% of guests recommended the resort, again an improvement on the 84% scored as of 1 June 2025.
