RENTING OR OWNING A YACHT IN MARSA ALAM

If you hoping to base your holiday at Port Ghalib you will be happy to know that the mooring charges for foreign owned yachts at Port Ghalib are, as of August 2024, insanely cheap. Just $8 a week or $28 a month for any foreign registered vessels up to 10 metres in length and just $5 a week or $12 a month for vessels up to 20 metres. You can even squeeze a fifty metre yacht in to the marina and even if you are a billionaire you will only need to pay $19 a week or $63 a month. The maximum rate is $24 a week or $71 a month for vessels longer than 50 metres. At the very upper end of the rental market one luxury yacht which might no longer be available to rent, but is worth checking just in case, is aptly named the Port Ghalib. It’s an eleven million euro luxury yacht with five bedrooms, a large relaxing area, a kitchen large enough for a naval conference and even a jacuzzi and an onboard launch.
The Port Ghalib is over 34 metres long and weighs a titanic 213 tons. It is powered by two diesels engines delivering 5550 hp – almost nine times more powerful than the Ferrari Enzo although over water it can’t quite match the Ferrari’s 335kph land speed – not surprising as it’s almost 200 times heavier. On the plus side with 18,000 litres of fuel on board the Captain rarely has to loose time filling up and unlike the Ferrari, it boasts enough bedrooms to enable your children to pay hide and seek for hours, a sun deck with enough space to play table tennis – but on a dining table – and a jacuzzi fit for King Farouk.
