This is an independent review of possible air travel options. I don’t receive any commission or other financial benefit if you book any airline or use any link.

For travellers planning their Egyptian getaway, the convenience of direct flights from the United Kingdom can significantly enhance the journey, saving precious holiday time and simplifying travel logistics. This guide details the scheduled direct flight options, as known in May 2026, from various UK airports to Marsa Alam and the nearby travel hub/resort of Hurghada for the 2026 and early 2027 calendar years.

Flight details on this page are based on information from airline websites and other trusted sources, last updated in May 2026. However, flight schedules can change at short notice, and while every effort has been made to ensure accuracy, I can’t guarantee the information is completely error-free. Please double-check all times, dates, routes and journey times directly with the airline or a trusted travel agent before booking, to avoid any surprises.

Marsa Alam remains a more secluded and tranquil alternative to the busier Hurghada route, and as of May 2026, direct access from the UK continues to be a premium, niche service. For the Summer 2026 season, there are no direct flights operating from London Gatwick or any other UK airport to Marsa Alam.

Direct services are currently strictly seasonal. TUI Airways is scheduled to resume its direct, non-stop service starting Sunday, 1 November 2026. These flights will operate once weekly every Sunday through to 18 April 2027.

Return Flight Time: Approx. 6 hours.

Outbound Flight Time: Approx. 5 hours 30 minutes.

Indirect Options

While Wizz Air and easyJet are often searched for this route, they do not currently offer direct flights from Gatwick to Marsa Alam. Any services found via these carriers involve at least one stop—most commonly in Rome (FCO) or Milan (MXP)—which can significantly extend travel time to 9 hours or more. Other carriers like Swiss or Lufthansa offer connecting flights via Zurich or Frankfurt, though these are generally less convenient for leisure travelers compared to the direct TUI service.

  • TUI – direct 01.11.26 to 18.04.27.
  • Wizz Air – indirect from LGW.

As of May 2026, a search across major regional hubs—including Manchester (MAN), Birmingham (BHX), Bristol (BRS), and Glasgow (GLA)—seems to suggest that no airlines are currently operating direct, non-stop services to Marsa Alam, other than those already listed from London Gatwick.

  • The Eurowings Connection: While the Eurowings website appears to list as suggestions Birmingham and Manchester as departure points for Marsa Alam, if these are available please check whether they are indirect services. Passengers might then expect a layover, typically at German hubs such as Dusseldorf (DUS) or Cologne (CGN).
  • Other Low-Cost Carriers: Airlines like Wizz Air and EasyJet may appear in search results for regional departures, but these are invariably connecting flights, often involving a stop in Italy (Wizz Air) or in Germany, Switzerland or Italy (Easyjet), which is likely to significantly increase your total travel time.

In stark contrast to the limited options for Marsa Alam, Hurghada stands out as a highly accessible Red Sea destination for UK travellers in 2026. A significantly wider range of direct flight options is available from numerous airports across the United Kingdom, reflecting Hurghada’s enduring popularity among Brits as a major holiday resort. This greater accessibility provides travellers with more choice in terms of departure points, airlines, and flight timings.

Flying to Marsa Alam via Hurghada offers several advantages, beyond sometimes finding cheaper airfares and being able to travel on different days. You can stop along the way to visit the historic city of El Quseir—the oldest on the Red Sea—to see the Ottoman castle, and do some shopping. Alternatively, consider a dual-destination holiday; while Marsa Alam is considered by many to be better for diving, snorkeling, and relaxing, Hurghada is great for shopping and evening entertainment.

You have options to travel from Hurghada to Marsa Alam by bus (use checkmybus.com to search for options) or more comfortably by taxi from the airport or your hotel – I recommend Steven’s Taxis for the best all round value and reliability. It’s reassuring to know that as of 5 May 2026, Steven’s Taxis has an outstanding rating of 4.9/5 based on over 1,700 reviews on Tripadvisor.)

Travelers from Northern Ireland can fly directly to Hurghada (HRG) from Belfast International Airport (BFS) with EasyJet. For the Summer 2026 season, the airline operates a consistent schedule of two flights per week, typically departing on Wednesdays and Saturdays.

As the season transitions into winter, the schedule is set to shift; from 27 October 2026, flights are expected to move to Tuesdays and Saturdays, continuing on this schedule until 20 March 2027. The average flight time from BFS to HRG is approximately 6 hours, though return journeys can sometimes take slightly longer due to prevailing headwinds.

Birmingham Airport (BHX) now offers robust direct connections to Hurghada through three main carriers: TUI, EasyJet, and Jet2.com.

As of May 2026, TUI maintains a strong presence with direct flights typically operating two or three times a week. On Mondays and Fridays until the end of October and then also adding Tuesdays making either two or three days per week on subsequent weeks with flights currently offered through until October 2027. EasyJet, which transitioned to a year-round service following its 2025 launch, now operates twice weekly, most weeks, on Wednesdays and Sundays with flights currently offered through until 21 March 2027. Additionally, Jet2.com has joined the route for the 2027 season, providing further direct options on Tuesdays and Saturdays, starting from 13 February 2027 through until 30 October 2027.

The average flight time from Birmingham to Hurghada is approximately 5 hours and 20 minutes, though return flights may take closer to 6 hours due to high-altitude winds. Given the increased competition between these three airlines, I strongly recommend checking each carrier’s website directly to compare the most current flight times and seasonal pricing.

TUI Airways continues to be the main provider of direct flights from East Midlands Airport (EMA) to Hurghada (HRG). For the summer 2026 season, flights are currently scheduled twice weekly, departing every Wednesday and Saturday, for most weeks until 28 October 2026, but during November 2026, the Saturday flight moves to Sunday and there is only one Wednesday flight in the month on 4 November. Twice weekly flights resume on 16 December on Wednesdays and Sundays until Wednesday 20 December 2026. As of May 2026, I could not find any flights available for January 2027, but twice-weekly flights appear to be available on Wednesdays and Sundays from 10 February 2027 until 27 October 2027.

In early 2027, Jet2.com is launching a brand-new weekly service starting Saturday 13 February 2027, initially once weekly on Saturdays until 27 March 2027, and then twice-weekly on Wednesdays and Saturdays from 31 March 2027 until 24 April 2027, returning to once weekly flights, but this time on Wednesdays, from 28 April 2027 until 6 October 2027. As of May 2026, there is good and bad news. The bad news is that there are currently no direct summer season flights operating between Edinburgh Airport (EDI) and Hurghada, but the good news is that this route is maintained as a seasonal winter connection by EasyJet, with direct services scheduled to resume on Tuesday, 27 October 2026.

Once the service restarts, flights are expected to operate twice weekly on Tuesdays and Fridays, except I couldn’t find any flight offered for Friday Christmas 25 December 2026. This schedule is currently slated to run throughout the winter months until 19 March 2027. The average flight time for this journey is approximately 5 hours and 40 minutes.

Liverpool (LPL) to Hurghada (HRG)

EasyJet is currently the only airline offering direct, non-stop flights from Liverpool John Lennon Airport (LPL) to Hurghada. As of May 2026, the airline operates a twice-weekly service with flights every Thursday and Sunday. This schedule is expected to remain consistent through the summer until 30 August 2026. Starting 1 September 2026, there are three flights weekly on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays until 25 October 2026, reducing to twice weekly on Thursdays and Sundays from 29 October until 6 December 2026.

During the busy December 2026 holiday period, EasyJet adds extra capacity again with three flights weekly on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays from 8 December 2026 until 3 January 2027. This returns to twice-weekly flights on Thursdays and Sundays from 7 January 2027 until 7 February 2027 and increases again to three flights weekly on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays from 9 February 2027 until 21 March 2027.

Tui flight review – London Gatwick to Hurghada
04.10.2022 – 9m 07s – 40+ likes – 6K+ views.

London Gatwick (LGW) is possibly the busiest hub for direct flights to Hurghada, and is currently served by EasyJet and TUI Airways.

EasyJet provides the highest frequency, operating flights every day or almost every day until 25 June 2026, and then five flights weekly on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays from 27 June 2026 until 29 August 2026. From 31 August, the busy 7 day week flight schedule restarts, lasting until 21 March 2027, although I was unable to find any flight available for Christmas Day 2026.

TUI Airways maintains a consistent year-round presence. As of early May 2026 flights are available on Mondays, Tuesdays and Fridays until 10 July 2026, then three or four times weekly on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and most Fridays until 31 August 2026, returning to three times weekly on Mondays, Tuesdays and Fridays in September and October 2026. During November 2026 there are at least three flights weekly on Mondays, Thursdays and Fridays with an additional flight available on Tuesday 3 November. From 14 December, there are four flights weekly on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays over the busy Christmas season until 8 January 2027.

On 11 January 2027, the Tui schedule returns to three flights weekly on Mondays, Thursdays and Fridays until 12 February 2027. It then increases again to four flights weekly on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays from 15 February 2027 until 30 April 2027. This increases to five flights daily on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays from 1 May 2027 to 22 May 2027 and to six flights daily (every day except Sunday) from 24 May 2027 until 29 October 2027.

A major development for 2027 is the entry of Jet2.com, which is scheduled to launch its own direct service from Gatwick to Hurghada starting 12 February 2027. It currently offers two flights weekly on Mondays and Fridays from 12 February 2027 until 30 April 2027, and again on Mondays and Fridays from 15 October 2027 until 29 October 2027.

London Luton (LTN) to Hurghada (HRG)

London Luton Airport (LTN) provides excellent direct flight options to Hurghada with both easyJet and Wizz Air.

As of May 2026, EasyJet is operating a robust early summer schedule with five flights available weekly (on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays, and Sundays) until 21 June 2026. This frequency drops slightly to four flights weekly (on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Sundays) from 23 June until 30 August 2026 before returning to five flights weekly (on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays) from 1 September 2026 until 25 October 2026. Starting from 26 October 2026, EasyJet is scheduled to transition to a daily service, offering flights seven days a week throughout the winter season until 21 March 2027, excluding only Christmas Day 2026 when I couldn’t find any flight available..

Wizz Air maintains its presence on this route as a seasonal winter provider. While direct flights are paused during the summer 2026 months, they are scheduled to resume on 26 October 2026. The service initially operates four times weekly on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays and is currently bookable through until 27 March 2027.

The average flight time from Luton to Hurghada is approximately 5 hours and 30 minutes. Because flight schedules are subject to seasonal adjustments and operational changes, and in case of any mistakes on this page, I strongly recommend verifying your specific travel dates directly on

As of early May 2026, EasyJet offers a high frequency of flights, operating flights every day of the week until 26 June 2026. From 27 June 2026, this drops slightly to six days a week (everyday except Sunday) until 28 August 2026. Then from 30 August, the schedule returns to operating flights every day of the week until 30 October 2026. In the quieter pre-Christmas period, starting 31 October, the number drops to five daily flights per week (on all five weekdays) until 30 November when it returns to six flights per week until 2 January 2027 (with no flights on Sundays and also no flights on Christmas Eve or Christmas Day).

On the week starting Monday 4 January 2027, there are five flights in the week on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Then from 11 January, the schedule runs at just four flights per week on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays until 29 January 2027. This level increases to five flights weekly in early February and to six flights weekly (on every day except Sunday) from 15 February 2027 until 20 March 2027.

London Heathrow (LHR) to Hurghada (HRG) (Indirect flights only)

As of May 2026, there are no direct, non-stop flights from London Heathrow to Hurghada. However, the airport offers excellent indirect options through major flag carriers. EgyptAir is the primary choice, offering multiple daily flights via Cairo with seamless connections to Hurghada. This route is often favored by travelers who prefer the reliability and amenities of a national carrier, including checked baggage and in-flight meals.

Alternatively, you can reach Hurghada by transiting through European hubs. Lufthansa (via Frankfurt or Munich) and SWISS (via Zurich) offer high-quality connections that allow you to bypass Cairo entirely. These “European transit” routes are highly efficient and provide a consistent level of service throughout the journey.

Manchester Airport (MAN) is excellently connected to Hurghada with direct, year-round flights provided by easyJet and TUI Airways. Additionally, Jet2.com is scheduled to launch a brand-new year-round service to Hurghada starting in February 2027.

As of May 2026, EasyJet initially offers direct flights six days a week (every day except Friday) until 21 June 2026, then at a slightly reduced frequency of five days (every day except Tuesday and Friday) from 22 June to 30 August. In late summer, from 31 August, this frequency returns to six days a week (excluding only Fridays) until 25 October 2026. Then for the winter schedule, starting 26 October 2026, this schedule increases to a daily service until 21 March 2027 except for Christmas Day when I wasn’t able to find any available direct flight.

As of early May 2026, TUI Airways continues to maintain a strong presence with three to four flights weekly. Until 10 July, flights generally depart three days weekly on Mondays, Tuesdays and Fridays, although from 11 July 2026 this increases to four days weekly on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays until 28 August, then returning to three days weekly on Mondays, Tuesdays and Fridays from 31 August 2026 until 30 October 2026.

The number of TUI flights then increases again to four flights weekly on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays from 2 November 2026 to 8 January 2027, returning to three flight weekly on Mondays, Thursdays and Fridays from 11 January 2027 to 12 February 2027. This rises to four flights weekly on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays from 15 February to 30 April 2027, and rises again to six flights daily (every day except Sunday) from 1 May to 23 October 2027. From 14 February 2027, Jet2.com will enter the route with flights scheduled twice weekly, on Wednesdays and Sundays, currently bookable (as of early May 2026) through until 31 October 2027.

The average flight time is approximately 5 hours and 40 minutes. Because flight schedules are subject to seasonal adjustments and operational changes, and in case of any mistakes on this page, I strongly recommend verifying your specific travel dates, connection times and baggage policies directly on

Newcastle (NCL) to Hurghada (HRG)

TUI Airways continues to be the primary operator of direct flights from Newcastle International Airport (NCL) to Hurghada. As of early May 2026, the airline offers two direct flights weekly, departing on Tuesdays and Saturdays, until 4 November. Then there is a lower frequency late autumn schedule of one flight weekly on Sundays from 8 November to 13 December, returning to two flights weekly on Wednesdays and Sundays for the Christmas period from 16 December 2026 until 3 January 2027.

After a brief pause when there are no flights during the remainder of January and early February, the TUI schedule returns to two flights weekly on Wednesdays and Sundays, from 10 February 2027 to 2 May 2027, and this number of two daily flights weekly continues, but on Thursdays and Sundays, from 6 May 2027 through until 24 October 2027.

As flight schedules and operating days can be adjusted seasonally, it is essential to check directly with the airlines for the most up-to-date information before booking.

Flying to the brand new Sphinx International Airport
07.06.2024 – 15m 44s – 98+ likes – 2,800+ views

As of 6 May 2026, the good news is that you can now fly to Cairo at cheaper prices than you could some years ago, as there are two low fare charter airlines – Wizz Airlines and EasyJet – both operating direct flights from London Luton to the new Cairo Sphinx International Airport located to the west of Cairo. However while Wizz Airlines is operating year round, I couldn’t find Easyjet flights from Luton to Cairo Sphinx available during the summer. However, EasyJet does operate an indirect service from London Gatwick (LGW) throughout the year, usually involving a change of flight in cities like Milan or Berlin.

Wizz Airlines is scheduled to operate flights from London Luton (LTN) to Cairo Sphinx (SPX) on between two to four days weekly until at least 30 October 2027. Searching in early May for a return flight in early December 2026 I was able to find at least one flight allowing a stay of seven nights for less than £150 – see the first screenshot below.

Meanwhile Easyjet is scheduled to operate several flights weekly from London Luton (LTN) to Cairo Sphinx (SPX) from 2 September 2026 through until 20 March 2027. Searching in early May for a return flight in early December 2026 I was able to find at least one return flight allowing a stay of seven nights for less than £230 – see the second screenshot below. However, flying from London Gatwick I was able to find a cheaper return flight for early December 2026 allowing a stay of nine nights for less than £160, but the journey times both ways slightly exceeded 24 hours, due to lengthy stopovers at Milan (see the third screenshot below).

For travelers heading to Marsa Alam, Cairo remains an excellent entry point. Once at Sphinx Airport, you can easily connect to central Cairo for an onward domestic flight to Marsa Alam (RMF) or take a long-distance bus or private taxi service.

Please note that the prices indicated were those seen online on 6 May 2026 and were for the basic fare and depending on your requirements, you may need to pay extra for your ticket. Because flight schedules are subject to seasonal adjustments and operational changes, and in case of any mistakes on this page, I strongly recommend verifying your specific travel dates, connection times and baggage policies directly on
