Gorgonia Beach is a highly impressive five star resort located some 48 km to the south of Marsa Alam town near to the entrance  of the Wadi El Gemal National Park and is one of only a few hotels in this fascinating area with its stunning mangrove and coral reef fringed coastline, surprising diversity of animals, birds and vegetation, as well as its little known ancient history of emerald mining.

The staff are friendly, the food excellent and the local reef wonderful for snorkellers. Judging solely by the language used by Tripadvisor reviewers (admittedly not the most precise methodology), as of 12 May 2026, nearly half of all customers so far seem to have been Italian (41%), but with the resort attracting a significant number of English (14%), German (10%), French (7%), Dutch (4%), Czech (3%) and Swedish (2%) speaking guests.

They feature all the usual facilities for five star hotels –  Satellite LCD TV,  safety deposit box, individually controlled air conditioning, hair dryer, lounge chairs, coffee table, mini fridge, telephone and wireless internet access.  Unfortunately we are not sure whether the wireless internet is at an extra charge (as is usual in most hotels) or not but will try to update readers shortly.

You can also find a diving centre – TGI Diving Centre – within the resort close to the beach and the resort’s jetty.

ENVIRONMENT

Gorgonia Beach Resort is the only hotel we know of which has organized two “clean up” days a week where guest volunteers and staff work together to clean up a local beach.  Well done to the management in having such a green outlook.
