LOCATION
Protels Crystal Beach is located 22 km north of Marsa Alam town and 45 km (a thirty minute drive) south of Marsa Alam Airport.
ROOMS
Protels Crystal Beach has a total of 269 rooms and suites, divided into four main types and sizes. The figures given below are in square metres cited by Booking.com, as of 27 May 2026, and converted from square feet –
They include at least 3 handicapped accessible rooms and 18 connecting rooms arranged in single storey bungalows or small two or three storey buildings laid out around the extensive gardens. The standard rooms are designed in a Nubian style with a domed roof. They can accommodate up to three adults or two adults and two children in three single beds and have sea, pool or garden views.
ROOM FACILITIES
Satellite television, telephone, air conditioning, 24 hour room-service, mini-bar, a safety deposit box, kettle, hairdryer, wheel chair accessible rooms, desk and a balcony or terrace. The mini bar is restocked daily with water and all rooms are non-smoking.

You’ll be spoiled for choice with four on site restaurants – Faiyruz (main), Pomodoro (Italian), Il Forno (pizzeria) and Pesce Fresco (fish restaurant) and there’s the usual set up of bars – one lobby (open 10 am to midnight), one poolside (open 10 am to sunset) and one beach bar (also 10 am to sunset).
There is also a bureau de change, four outdoor swimming pools including one heated and one children’s pool, a concierge, conference and meeting facilities, laundry, two poolside bars, a waterslide, car parking, a beauty salon ( hairdresser), a shopping arcade (perfumes, gold, crafts etc), a diving centre, a spa offering a sauna and massage services, a beach volleyball court, billiards and table tennis.
There’s also an animation team, folkloric dances (including sometimes belly dancing) and free WiFi in the reception and lobby bar. The hotel’s beach is about 350 metres long, with a 450 metres long jetty reaching out across a lagoon to the fringing coral reef for great diving and snorkelling opportunities.

On TripAdvisor, as of 18 June 2025, Protels Crystal Beach had achieved a respectable ranking of 57th out of 116 hotels in the Marsa Alam region based on travellers’ ratings with a strong average rating of 4.4 out of 5 bubbles based on 1,124 reviews, with 86.0% of reviewers rating it as either “very good” or “excellent,” while only 9.4% of reviewers rated it as either “poor” or “terrible.”

Meanwhile on Booking.com, as of 27 May 2026, Protels Crystal Beach was rated at a “very good” score of 8.3 out of a maximum 10, based on 331 reviews, which is a significant improvement on its score of 8.1 when last checked in June 2025. As of 27 May 2026, I couldn’t find ratings listed for the various hotels services and facilities, but in June 2025 when I last checked the Booking.com page, the resort achieved the following scores, also out of a maximum of 10, for the various categories – highest first. However it is likely these ratings probably underestimate how guests might currently rate the same categories given the significant improvement in the hotel’s overall ranking over this period.
ON GOOGLE AND HOLIDAYCHECK
As of 27 May 2026, Protels Crystal Beach had obtained an encouraging result of 4.2 out of 5 on Google Reviews based on 1,475 reviews.
Meanwhile on Holidaycheck.de, the resort scored an admirable 4.9 out of a maximum six stars (as of 27 May 2026), based on 451 reviews (up from 4.7 in September 2024). A reassuring 85% of reviewers (an impressive improvement from 81% in September 2024) said that they would recommend the hotel with the following scores out of a maximum of six for the various categories – highest first. The figures for September 2024 follow in brackets for comparison.
